Website Development

Once we have the necessary content, we usually need approximately 2 weeks. In some cases we're able to develop the website faster though. In most cases the length of the process is determined by the speed of the client - we require content for the website, your logo and feedback on our work.

Do you have an urgent project? Then let us know so we can speed up the process on our side. In that case we also ask you reply quickly to our emails and provide us with the materials we need as soon as possible. Just speak to your Consultant about your timeline and we will do our best to accommodate.

We include the following in your website:

  • We publish up to 5 pages for you, but you're free to add more pages yourself
  • We include a blog you can use to publish news
  • We only use premium templates, bought especially for you, to build the website
  • We include 3 stock photos from Shutterstock.com
  • We include a contact form on the contact page or other relevant landing pages

We also include:

  • A Budget Webhosting Plan with 5 mailboxes, 2GB disk space and 50GB bandwidth
  • A .co.za domain name
  • Website updates, meaning we keep WordPress and the plugins up to date to keep your website secure

We will ask you to supply us with your logo and the content you'd like to include on the website. We will also ask you for inspiration (i.e. your likes and dislikes), contact details you'd like to show, accreditations and a few other small things. Your Consultant will guide you through this process.

We have developed a step-by-step process that allows you to provide us with everything we need in a structured manner. You can upload the relevant files with text, photos, logos etc. and provide us with your preferences, likes and dislikes in terms of the style we'll be using. Your Consultant will provide you with a link to the portal.

We can assist with virtually any type of website, from a blog to an online shop. Certain websites require additional modules though - which are subject to additional fees - please speak to your Consultant about the possibilities.

For additional pages we usually quote you for the additional time required to set those up. We charge R399 per hour for any website maintenance services rendered.

Yes we do - we use market-leading WordPress online shop extension WooCommerce to develop online shops for our clients. We help you find a suitable design that accommodates for an online shop, set up a number of sample products, set up shipping & payment methods and configure the shop (including VAT configuration if necessary).

We do, however, focus on simpler online shops. If  your online shop has to integrate with existing systems (such as ERP or distribution systems), features subscriptions or other 'special' products, needs special plugins (like abandoned cart features) or other advanced e-commerce features, we call in our partner NIMBLER Digital to assist with development. We will then charge you for the website lease, including the online shop module, and NIMBLER Digital will quote you for integrating the advanced features.

Website Administration

We include the following in your website:

Yes you can - you can manage all texts, images, menus and other content on the website in the WordPress administration panel. You can also easily add new pages and news articles. So you don't need us to manage your website.

However, you are not able, without sufficient technical expertise to update the design, layout and functionality of your website. If you'd like to make more serious changes, please contact our Support Team for a quotation.

Yes - we regularly update your WordPress instance, and update the plugins, to keep your website secure.

In some cases we are not able to update the plugin or a free plugin turns into a paid plugin. In that case we do not update the plugin. If there are compatibility issues with the template we also do not update the plugin.

Email

By default our Budget Hosting Plan comes with 5 email accounts. If you require more email accounts we recommend upgrading to the Value Hosting Plan where you have up to 50 email accounts available. You then also have 5GB available instead of the standard 2GB.

The cost for the Value Hosting Plan would be R49 per month for the duration of your website finance term, and after that term ends you can continue hosting with us if you like, at a cost of R119 per month.

Website Finance

Think of it like financing your car - it simply means you pay off the website over a period of time, in our case 6 or 12 months. After that period you own the website and you're free to do with it what you like. You're also free to use the website during the finance period, which means we technically offer a lease-to-own structure at Blueboard.

While you're leasing your website we include everything you need to maintain a professional online presence, including hosting, email, website updates and a domain name.

By default we offer leases of 6 or 12 months. As part of their finance application our clients consent to a credit check. Businesses younger than 2 years can only apply for a 6-month finance agreement. Blacklisted applicants will only be approved for an outright purchase and not for a finance agreement.

As part of their finance application our clients consent to a credit check. We use the following guidelines to approve applicants for finance:

  • Applicants with a business younger than 2 years can only apply for a 6-month finance agreement.
  • Applicants who are blacklisted, fallen in arrears or under some other form of financial control are only approved for an outright purchase and not for any form of finance.
  • Applicants with a business of a temporary nature (i.e. events or seasonal businesses) are only approved for the term they are expected to be operational.
  • Applicants with a business of an immoral or unethical nature are refused for both finance as well as an outright purchase.

Blueboard reserves the right to refuse clients without providing a reason.

You stop paying for the lease and now own your own website. You're free to move it anywhere you like. We can continue hosting the website at a cost of R69 per month.

No - you cannot cancel the finance agreement before the term ends. We spread the cost of developing the website, as well as the domain and hosting, out over the entire lease term. Hence it is not a subscription that allows you to cancel, but a finance agreement that allows you to pay off an asset (i.e. the website).

If you want to pay off the website faster or all at once we will prepare a settlement offer, which depends on the remaining period left as well as the overall term. Generally we do not give discounts for clients who wish to pay off their website faster.

Domain

In that case we can transfer the domain to us. The cost for a .co.za domain is included in our website finance agreements.

For .com domains we require an EPP authorisation code and a small surcharge applies. Most other domains, including .co.za, are transferred by accepting a transfer request via email. In some cases, on the legacy system, a "magic cookie" is used. We will guide you through this process.

We offer a wide variety of domain names, including all the common extensions (.com, .net, .org.za etc.). If you want to use another extension than .co.za we will quote you for the difference in price and add a surcharge to your invoices. For a .com domain name that is currently R56 per month.

Recently a large number of new extensions have been released. Examples include .legal, .marketing, .consulting and .group. They offer a great alternative to traditional international domains like .com or .net. We offer most of these domains in collaboration with our partners. Please ask our Support Team for a quotation and to check availability.

You can also contact our Support Team to help you find a suitable domain name. We offer a variety of domain extensions (not only .co.za) and can get a little creative to find a suitable one for you.

If you already have email set up elsewhere we can re-create the mailboxes on our server, or we can update the so-called MX records and point the email traffic to another server. Whichever is easiest for you. Our Support Team will guide you through the process and help you make the right decision.

Webhosting

Our Budget Hosting Plan is included by default with all our websites, which is typically enough to run a small business. We include the following:

  • 5 email accounts (IMAP or POP, including webmail)
  • 2GB of disk space for the website and email
  • 50GB of bandwidth
  • A MySQL database to run the website
  • Unlimited subdomains
  • Unlimited email forwarders
  • A free .co.za domain name

All our website finance agreements include hosting and a domain name. We require our clients to host their website with us until the end of the term, at which point they are free to move the website to another host or continue to host with us at a cost of R69 per month for the Budget Hosting Plan or R119 per month for the Value Hosting Plan.

By default you have a total of 2GB available on your hosting package (Budget Plan). In some cases, in particular when IMAP accounts are used and therefore all the email is stored on the server, our clients run out of disk space.

There is two things we can do in that case:

  • You can archive some of your old emails onto your computers, freeing disk space on your hosting account. We recommend you do this monthly.
  • We can upgrade you to a bigger hosting package (our Value Plan) with 5GB of disk space. You then also get up to 50 mailboxes, 5 domains, 5 databases and unlimited bandwidth. The cost for that would be R49 per month for the duration of your website lease, and after the lease ends you can continue hosting with us if you like, at a cost of R119 per month.

After the finance term ends you own the website and you're free to host the website wherever you like. By default we will continue hosting the website, which for the Budget Plan costs R69 per month and for the Value Plan R119 per month.
